The Diverse Voices Scholarship Fund

Like The New York Times itself, our mission at The School of The New York Times is to help people understand the world. Our education programs are designed to reflect the scope, relevance and caliber of The Times’s news coverage. Together, our rigorous curriculum and diverse community of students, faculty and administrators help prepare the next generation of creative thinkers and global citizens.

The School of The New York Times is committed to making its programs accessible to students from all backgrounds. We believe financial circumstances should not be a barrier to world-class, pre-collegiate education. The Diverse Voices Scholarship Fund aims to improve availability, access and equity of learning opportunities for economically disadvantaged students by offering full-tuition scholarships. Students interested in Summer Academy, Gap Year or August Writers’ Workshop2020欧洲杯网址APP are eligible to apply.

How to Apply

Students must meet the economically disadvantaged eligibility requirements (outlined below) in order to be considered for the Diverse Voices Scholarship. All students who wish to be considered must first submit a completed Summer Academy, Gap Year or August Writers’ Workshop program application, followed by the scholarship application. The application can be completed online () and below is an overview of the process.

  • Demographic Information
    • Students from all backgrounds who meet the economically disadvantaged eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply.
    • Students must meet the grade or age eligibility requirements for the specific program to which they are applying.
  • Personal Statement/Essay
    • How do you plan to use your diverse voice to make a difference in your community or the world at large?
  • Tax Return/Proof of Income for Two Consecutive Years
    • Students must meet the economically disadvantaged eligibility requirements in order to be considered for the Diverse Voices Scholarship. A student is considered economically disadvantaged if they:
    • Qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch at their middle or high school
    • Are a member of a household whose total annual income is not more than the applicable amount listed in the income eligibility table located here.

If you apply for but do not receive the Diverse Voices Scholarship, your application will automatically be considered for regular Financial Aid if you have applied before each program’s Financial Aid deadline.2020欧洲杯网址APP If you do not receive the Diverse Voices Scholarship and the regular Financial Aid deadline has passed, the Admissions Committee will review applications on a case by case basis.

Scholarship Application Deadline

The final deadline to apply for the Diverse Voices Scholarship is March 16, 2020.

Students must2020欧洲杯网址APP submit a completed Summer Academy, Gap Year or August Writers’ Workshop program application, followed by the Diverse Voices Scholarship application. While the final deadline to apply for the Diverse Voices Scholarship is March 16, students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as scholarships are limited, admissions is competitive and courses will begin to fill up.
