Our NYC Summer Academy gives intellectually curious high school students the opportunity to live and learn in New York City while studying topics in journalism, media, technology, arts, culture, sports, fashion, business, science and more. Each two-week course draws on the expertise and unrivaled access of The New York Times and encourages students to take their learning beyond the classroom and into the real world. Summer Academy courses are organized by Intensives and Explorations. Intensives dive deep into a specific subject area, while Explorations are interdisciplinary and cover three distinct subjects. Both Intensives and Explorations are taught by award-winning Times journalists and expert practitioners.
At a Glance
Two and four-week programs throughout June and July; students may enroll in more than one term.
The program is open to rising high school students (grades 10-12) and graduating seniors. Students must be 15 years old by the first day of the program.
Requires the completion of an online application and submission of supplementary materials. Students may apply for financial aid through a separate application.

NYC Summer Academy Experience
Explore the cultural and financial capital of the world in your own New York City adventure. Students have the option of living on campus in a university dorm or commuting to class from their local residence. Learn more about living and learning in NYC with The School of The New York Times.
DC Summer Academy
We also offer Summer Academy in Washington DC. This program allows students to spend two weeks in our nation’s capital at the center of politics, public policy and social activism.
